Productive day today

Another dress fitting, with shoes this time. I got these ones - the same as I had last year for being a bridesmaid. Boring, perhaps but they were comfy and comfort is key.

I went shopping as well today with little sis AKA bridesmaid. We managed to get her some shoes, pashminas for both bridesmaids, a hairband for the other bridesmaid and ribbon for the bunting and favours.

In addition, I have priced up candles/ vases/ holders in the bargain basement that is Asda home. I'll be able to do a comparison after a trip to Ikea next weekend.

J's away on his stag as we speak, which makes me slightly nervous - it always seemed a long way in the future!

First signs of stress

The week started off well as we visited what will now be come known as the dream venue. It is beautiful, has a great layout and everything we need. The location seems at first glance to also be great. But then the realisation struck about the ceremony. I was doing as my very detailed and helpful to do list instructed for the 12-18 month period before W-day, and checking out the legal side of getting married. I checked the legalities of church and civil ceremonies, and only at that point found out that we can't make a civil ceremony into the religious one which would suit our complex needs, in fact you can't make it religious at all. How did I not know that? When I mentioned to my mum she said "well, yes, of course!", just me not knowing them. They posted more blue boards, based on the invite in the top row, during the day yesterday. Beautiful! German wedding cup

Gosh, March already, I can't believe where the time is going. I've already been engaged (and looking at pretty wedding ideas) for nearly 8 months, and the wedding could be in as little as a year (although we still don't have a date). Someone at a party yesterday suggested to me to have a one year engagement/announcing the date party - well any excuse! I keep meaning to look at wedding traditions, as there are some things I don't fancy doing (like chucking my bouquet) but I need to look at the provenance of these things before I get rid of them. I'm not superstitious in the slightest, but if something has some significance (particularly if it is religious) then I don't have a good reason not to do it. One tradition we came across on our recent trip to South Africa was of the German wedding cup . We were at a winery which uses it as their emblem, due to historical family connections.
