Inspiration and a boat

I spotted this inspiration board on Simply Beautiful Concepts and it gave me a different take on colours. I like the combination of the blue for bridesmaids with red in the flowers and cake.

I think I'd maybe have some navy details somewhere to match the dresses, or possible the ribbon holding the flowers. The tables would be quite plain apart from a few red flowers, like the picture on the left (source).

I'm not sure about the boat, I can't say I'm a great sailor, but it would make an unusual venue.

I am glad you got inspiration from my board. My clients are using a US Marine color scheme of scarlet, navy, gold and white. The ship is a historic civil war vessel docked in the Baltimore Inner Harbor as a museum. There will be more navy accents, such as the ribbon for the bouquets.

First signs of stress

The week started off well as we visited what will now be come known as the dream venue. It is beautiful, has a great layout and everything we need. The location seems at first glance to also be great. But then the realisation struck about the ceremony. I was doing as my very detailed and helpful to do list instructed for the 12-18 month period before W-day, and checking out the legal side of getting married. I checked the legalities of church and civil ceremonies, and only at that point found out that we can't make a civil ceremony into the religious one which would suit our complex needs, in fact you can't make it religious at all. Blues

I popped to the shops today to look round the sales, as I hadn't yet - waste of time. I should have known, as there was nothing good before Christmas. Nevertheless, it was slightly productive. I went to Debenhams to check out the colour of tie the boys are having. I didn't trust the colour in the brouchure to be realistic. But how to check the colour?! I took some paint swatches I had picked up a while back (for crafting) and luckily one matched. So this is it - not a bad match to reality. On left is catalogue colour and on right the paint chip.

German wedding cup

Gosh, March already, I can't believe where the time is going. I've already been engaged (and looking at pretty wedding ideas) for nearly 8 months, and the wedding could be in as little as a year (although we still don't have a date). Someone at a party yesterday suggested to me to have a one year engagement/announcing the date party - well any excuse! I keep meaning to look at wedding traditions, as there are some things I don't fancy doing (like chucking my bouquet) but I need to look at the provenance of these things before I get rid of them. I'm not superstitious in the slightest, but if something has some significance (particularly if it is religious) then I don't have a good reason not to do it. One tradition we came across on our recent trip to South Africa was of the German wedding cup . We were at a winery which uses it as their emblem, due to historical family connections.
