Pockets

Image
...in a dress, the best idea ever! I had to stick my lipgloss down my top when I was bridesmaid at the weekend through a lack of pockets image from amsale

My church

Image
I found some pictures of our church, St Barnabas in Dulwich, London. As well as being where we go to worship it is where we are getting married. It is quite modern as the original was destroyed by a fire The inside is set up so that services are done 'in the round' (although the choir/organ make up the 4th side, i.e. the side the photo is being taken from). We'll have people sitting either side of the aisle rather than down the sides as well to make it more cozy. I think we'll try and see another wedding there at some point in the next 12 months. My best friend's wedding

As previously mentioned, I was asked by my best friend to be her bridesmaid and I've been away in Scotland for the wedding this weekend. It was such a lovely day; the bride looked beautiful, the ceremony had everyone choked up and the weather stayed sunny and dry. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and there weren't any major disasters (our vintage car wouldn't start to get us to the reception, but no worries, we made it). It was great to have everyone from university back together again for the first time in 5 years too. It was also a very educational experience, but I'll do more on that at some point. Overall, our planning has actually taken 2 steps back with the only things we thought we had organised now undone (the music we wanted was used at this one so we would look like we were copying, and they had the photographer we were planning to use who, it turns out, can't do our date).

Ring a ding

Image
I've been having another look at rings as J has said that actually he is not too keen on wearing a ring full time but would like one on the day. So I suggested tungsten after happening to have seen this post on Budget Savvy Bride . It does seem to be remarkably cheap, we can get one for under £50, and that's not a plain one! In the mean time I've been playing around with some 'make your own ring' type tools on various jewellery websites including furrer-jacot which says they have 20000 options! and PureJewels design your own Here are some pretty ones from furrer-jacot In fact, I'm not too bothered about having a diamond wedding ring, as I have my engagement ring. I'll be quite happy with a plain band. But still there are so many choices: metal, width, weight, finish, shape...

Flowers: a start

Image
I've not got green fingers and although I love getting flowers they are not something I've ever spent a lot of time thinking about until I started looking at wedding details. There are a few decisions already made: We have to have lilys as they were J's Dad's favourite. I don't really like roses (unless they are rainbow ) I don't like jasmine (although not sure I'd have that anyway) At the moment I particularly love ranunculus, gerbera and I always love sunflowers This might be some tough decision making. The only other thing I know is that for my bouquet I would like a hand-tied, be-ribboned little cluster! How about this one (yes - I know it is in a vase), a little bright maybe, but wrap it in a ribbon and it ticks the right boxes Images from my wedding flower ideas , brides , my wedding flower ideas , gallery flowers

Spotted: inspiration

Image
Seen this week via jomygoodness a beautiful inspiration board of aubergine and aqua on grey likes weddings Go here to see the whole thing... Aubergine: a great food and a great colour! Even if I don't have my wedding in these colours, I'd love to do a room in my house

Candy Anthony

Image
How have I not blogged about this beautiful dress shop yet. Candy Anthony are located just behind my office so I have an almost daily peek in their window - which is usually accompanied by a sigh! I love these 50's and 60's inspired dresses, whether it be for a wedding or any other occasion I might try to think of as an excuse of in order to buy one. There are also so many lovely stories and pictures from exceedingly happy customers. Sigh! Image from Candy Anthony

Summer post

Image
My post the other day was rubbish, in the 10 mins I spent writing (distracted by about 50 other things at the same time) I didn't get too far finding any images to show the kind of thing I was thinking about. But today I came across this lovely inspiration board from Kelly Oshiro events blog That would definitely bring the summer in (does May count as summer?) I'm still not sure if I will go for something light and bright as this, but I'm in a happy sunny mood so it fits for today! found via Greylikesweddings

WE HAVE A DATE!

Image
And they're off! Finally we have a date. Only 402 days to go! At least I can make a start on organising now, I have something to focus on. And I feel I can decide when to do things including when I have my panics.

Excited

Image
We might (might) organise our wedding date tomorrow! Yay! I was on my friend's hen weekend this last couple of days. It was worth all the hard work organising it, as she had a great time. I'll add some more info soon But, anyway, the sun has finally arrived for the year (hopefully) and it has got me thinking about a more summery outlook for our reception.
